Fayette 11/12/2005 Jefferson County back to counties I know you think you know how to pronounce Fayette, but you probably don't. It's pronounced fay-ETTE. I asked a local how to get to FAY-ette, and he said, "If you are looking for fay-ETTE, it's...." I wasn't certain I heard him correctly, but at the BMWROM meeting they verified the correct pronounciation. Fayetteville, Arkansas is pronounced FAY-ette-ville. Fayette, Alabama is pronounced FETT. I'm not kidding. It's one syllable. |
